Digital Safety & Privacy Training
A screenshot can end a career. A hacked account can end a life. We train at-risk individuals to protect themselves in digital spaces where danger is invisible until it strikes.
We Have Done This Before and It Works
This is not a theoretical program. We have already delivered two successful digital safety training sessions, reaching community members across different regions of Ghana. The feedback was clear: this knowledge saves lives, and more people urgently need access to it.
Participants left those sessions with secured accounts, encrypted communication tools, and most importantly, the awareness to spot threats before they escalate. But 60 people in a community of thousands is not enough. The demand for more sessions is overwhelming, and the threats are accelerating.
Why This Is Urgent?
The digital threat landscape for queer Ghanaians is getting worse, not better. Coordinated doxxing campaigns target activists. Dating apps are exploited to lure individuals into traps. Blackmail through intimate images has become a widespread form of extortion. And most victims don't know they can prevent it, until it's too late.
A single data breach doesn't just expose someone online. It triggers a chain reaction: outing to family, loss of employment, eviction, physical violence. In some cases, it has led to individuals fleeing their city or worse.
"Before the training, I didn't even know my location was being shared every time I posted. Now I move through the internet with confidence. I know what to look for. That peace of mind is priceless."
What We Teach
- Securing social media accounts and managing digital footprints
- Encrypted messaging and email communicating without exposure
- VPN usage, secure browsing, and avoiding surveillance
- Identifying phishing, catfishing, and blackmail schemes before engaging
- Password management and two-factor authentication setup
- Emergency protocols: what to do if you've been hacked or doxxed
- Secure device practices protecting your phone as your most vulnerable asset
What More Funding Enables
Our first two sessions proved the model works. Now we need to scale it, reaching more regions, more people, and providing secure devices to the most at-risk individuals who cannot afford them.
The Next Phase
We are raising $10,000 to deliver 6 additional training sessions across 4 regions, provide secure phones and privacy tools to 30 high-risk individuals, produce a printed digital safety guide in local languages, and build a rapid-response team for digital emergencies. The groundwork is laid. We just need the fuel to keep going.
Protect a Life in the Digital World
Online danger is invisible, until it isn't. Your donation equips someone with the knowledge and tools to stay safe in spaces where one wrong click can change everything. Prevention is always cheaper than crisis.
